PS2 The developing human being — revision for the matriculation exam

What the examiner expects from module PS2, and how to write that content into an answer so it earns points.

Mitä sensori odottaa tästä moduulista

Kehitys selitetään perimän, ympäristön ja yksilön oman aktiivisuuden vuorovaikutuksena — yksisuuntainen selitys ("kasvatus ratkaisee") on automaattinen vähennys. Vahva vastaus etenee ikävaiheittain tai kehityksen osa-alueittain (fyysinen, kognitiivinen, sosioemotionaalinen) ja nimeää teoriat tutkijoineen.

Ydinkäsitteet

  • Kypsyminen vs. oppiminen — perimän ohjaama biologinen kehitys vs. kokemuksen tuottama muutos; kehitys on näiden jatkuvaa yhteispeliä.
  • Herkkyyskausi — ajanjakso, jolloin tietty taito kehittyy erityisen helposti (esim. kielen omaksuminen varhaislapsuudessa).
  • Temperamentti — synnynnäinen, suhteellisen pysyvä reagointityyli (esim. Thomasin ja Chessin helppo, hitaasti lämpenevä ja vaikea temperamentti). Temperamentin ja ympäristön yhteensopivuus (goodness of fit) muokkaa kehitystä.
  • Aivojen muovautuvuus (plastisiteetti) — kokemus muokkaa hermoverkkoja; synapsien karsiutuminen ja myelinisaatio jatkuvat nuoruuteen asti (etuotsalohko viimeisenä — selittää nuoren impulsiivisuutta).

How to train module PS2 into points

  1. Revise the module's core concepts — name them, do not paraphrase them.
  2. Write an exam-style answer on the topic. Give yourself the same time as in the exam.
  3. Read the score, what was missing, and the three corrections — References to studies and researchers (e.g. Bowlby, Lazarus, Baddeley), experimental evidence and applying theories to the material.
  4. Write the same answer again after the corrections and see how far it rose.
