MAB6 The basics of financial mathematics — revision for the matriculation exam
What the examiner expects from module MAB6, and how to write that content into an answer so it earns points.

MAB6 mittaa, osaatko käyttää prosenttilaskua oikean elämän talousaineistoon: hintoihin, veroihin, indekseihin, valuuttoihin ja korkoon. Ydinkäsitteet
- Muutoskerroin — nousussa 1 + p/100, laskussa 1 - p/100. Uusi arvo = vanha arvo * kerroin.
- Muutosprosentti — (uusi - vanha) / vanha * 100. Vertailukohta on aina vanha arvo.
- Prosenttiyksikkö — kahden prosenttiluvun erotus. Nousu 5 prosentista 6 prosenttiin on yksi prosenttiyksikkö mutta 20 prosentin suhteellinen nousu.
- Arvonlisävero (alv) — kulutusvero, joka lisätään verottomaan hintaan. Verottomasta verolliseen kerrotaan kertoimella, verollisesta verottomaan jaetaan samalla kertoimella.
- Indeksiluku — suureen arvo prosentteina perusajankohdan arvosta, perusajankohdan indeksi on 100. Uusi arvo = vanha arvo * (uusi indeksi / vanha indeksi).
- Valuuttakurssi — kuinka monta yksikköä toista valuuttaa saa yhdellä yksiköllä toista. Kotivaluutasta vieraaseen kerrotaan, takaisin jaetaan.
- Yksinkertainen korko — korko = pääoma * korkokanta * aika vuosina; korkoa ei lasketa kertyneelle korolle.

How to train module MAB6 into points
- Revise the module's core concepts — name them, do not paraphrase them.
- Write an exam-style answer on the topic. Give yourself the same time as in the exam.
- Read the score, what was missing, and the three corrections — Visible intermediate steps, choosing and justifying the model or formula, use of units, and interpreting and sanity-checking the answer.
- Write the same answer again after the corrections and see how far it rose.
